Managing Projects

Managing Projects

Projects are the primary organizational unit in FortWatch. They allow you to group related assets together for easier management and reporting.

Creating a Project

  1. Navigate to Projects from the sidebar.
  2. Click New Project.
  3. Enter a descriptive project name.
  4. Choose a color — this color-codes the project icon throughout the interface for quick visual identification.
  5. Click Create.

How to Organize Projects

There is no single right way to structure your projects. Common approaches include:

  • By environment — Separate projects for Production, Staging, and Development.
  • By product — One project per product or service your company operates.
  • By team — Projects mapped to the teams responsible for the infrastructure.
  • By client — If you manage infrastructure for multiple clients, one project per client.

Project Dashboard

Each project has its own overview page showing:

  • Total number of assets and their statuses
  • Severity breakdown of issues across all assets in the project
  • Recent scan activity for the project
  • A list of all assets with quick access to scan and issue details

Editing and Deleting Projects

You can rename a project or change its color at any time from the project settings. Deleting a project will also remove all assets and their associated scan history, findings, and issues. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
